SAG awards 2013

Hmm, and the winner goes to???

Hard to choose when everyone has the same hairstyle! Ok, ok..youwanna dress up, hollywood style…The waves, deep part, hair behind one shoulder…you’ve seen if before, probably on more than one occasion. Exuding class and elegance, this look is why plenty of actresses revive it every awards season. The 2013 Screen Actors Guild Awards were no exception, and it appears as though every actress on the red carpet asked their stylist for this tried and true favorite.

So, who can pull it off? Anyone, check.Criteria?Zac Posen gown, uh, uncheck. Glam up a Macy’s gown? Check. The ease of styling, softness of waves and timelessness of this look epitomizes glamour and fashion. Long gone are the days of crispy, crunchy tendrils and hair sprayed curly twists. Today’s modern evening hair is characterized by movement, polish and beauty, in the “prettiest” sense of the word.

Let’s say your event is tonight, an art gala perhaps, or you’ve been forced to participate in a coral, chiffon bridal party complete with matching heels. Set yourself apart by asking your stylist for a more, “natural” approach to formal. No bobbypin migraine, no 90s bangs, and absolutely NO tiaras!

And who, might you ask did it best at the SAG awards? Check out the photo gallery below for our top pics.

Balayage

Balayage is the hottest hair coloring technique we’ve see in quite some time! Unless you live under a rock you’ve see someone with balayage hilights. What you may not have realized was that what you were looking at was a highly technical free-hand painting technique. The French derrived word balayage means “to sweep”. These soft, beachy, natural hilights are the sun kissed pieces we’ve seen on all the Victoria’s Secret models for years. Don’t be fooled by how easy this technique appears, stylists must be specially trained or certified to perfect this hair art. The most obvious difference to point out between balayage and foils is the maintenance! Customers should expect to wait longer between appointments due to the very gradual, soft grow-out. Pick up any magazine and most likely the celebrity or model on the cover as well as most of them inside will all be sporting beautiful balayage hilights.
