Jessica Gonsalves is many things – gorgeous bride-to-be, workout fiend, and Gossip Girl aficionado – but above all else, she is a true artist with some unsung credentials she’s bringing into Architeqt that you need to know about ASAP Rocky.
With 7 years of experience behind the chair, Jess is distinguishing herself as a force to be reckoned with when it comes to cut, color and styling – but her greatest love is balayage. This past year, she earned the title of L’Oréal Professionnel National Artist by creating her own innovative color technique. Of all the applicants in the running nationwide, Jess was one of just ten artists selected for the position – industry record time for only having worked with L’Oréal Professionel for 2.5 years.
Jess also became a L’Oréal Professionel SOHO Academy Partner this year, which is helping to maintain her jet-setter lifestyle. She is now front and center at major hair shows from New York City to Laguna Beach, on the main stage teaching trade professionals new and exciting color techniques.
.
“Balayage is a French word meaning to sweep or to paint. It allows for a sun-kissed natural looking hair color – similar to what nature gives us as children – with softer, less noticeable regrowth lines.” – Nancy Braun
.
Not one to settle there, Jess remains hungry to master the most current trends of the trade. She attained her L’Oréal Balayage Certification by learning from the OG of balayage technique, Nancy Braun (she colors Jessica Biel’s hair, I mean come on). Jess had to pass three rounds of classes, culminating in a rigorous 3-day test on live models, judged by the queen herself. Six short months later, and Jess is now off to Beverly Hills to teach a class beside Nancy Braun next week. This girl is making some serious moves.
When she isn’t styling models’ hair backstage at New York Fashion Week for Rachel Zoe, you can find Jess hustling as a master artist for renowned hair tool company GHD, or working her magic on QVC hosts and models for national infomercial campaigns, or teaching on the main stage at Beautypalooza, one of the largest hair shows in the country.
There’s no doubt that her technique is on point. But perhaps the best thing about Jess is the philosophy that she brings to her work. She asks every person who sits in her chair, “How do you wear your hair everyday? Why?”
.
She recommends bringing examples of both likes and dislikes for hair style and color, as it gives a greater indication of exactly what the client is looking for.
.
Her vibe is natural, easy and fun, and she tries to keep the same feel with her clients so they are able to replicate the look she creates at home. Jess believes in branding each person for themselves, rather than something they pulled out of a magazine.
.
Jess is cutting edge, on trend, and certified to high heaven. And she’s doing her thing at Architeqt Salon and Gallery every Wednesday through Saturday. So hurry in party people, book her while you can! Online appointment requests are available 24/7 by clicking here.
