Balayage is the hottest hair coloring technique we’ve see in quite some time! Unless you live under a rock you’ve see someone with balayage hilights. What you may not have realized was that what you were looking at was a highly technical free-hand painting technique. The French derrived word balayage means “to sweep”. These soft, beachy, natural hilights are the sun kissed pieces we’ve seen on all the Victoria’s Secret models for years. Don’t be fooled by how easy this technique appears, stylists must be specially trained or certified to perfect this hair art. The most obvious difference to point out between balayage and foils is the maintenance! Customers should expect to wait longer between appointments due to the very gradual, soft grow-out. Pick up any magazine and most likely the celebrity or model on the cover as well as most of them inside will all be sporting beautiful balayage hilights.
